BÊT [Aug. 31st, 2008|09:57 pm]

dengikani
Bezin bo şewêkîş bêt şwênî xoy xoş dekat.

The goat makes his place nice (comfortable) even if it’s for only one night.

This is a proverb (my husband used it when we went camping and he wanted to use the inflatable mattress and I was content to use a sleeping bag!)

As far as I can understand, bêt means "even if it is". This is a very difficult construction for me, so maybe I'll post a few more sentences with it in the future.

I'm not on my computer right now, so I'll post the sentence in arabic script next time.

You can download Thackston's complete grammar for Sorani Kurdish here. A Kurmanji grammar is also available. There are also a few resources for Kurdish over at Unilang.

This community appears to have been inactive for quite some time. Any interest in reviving it?

Oops! That was a long week... We're going again for a week next Friday, but I'll try to post regularly until then:
هاوین

HAWÎN = summer

Pê xoşhałim hêşta HAWÎNe.

means

I'm glad it's still summer.

Note: In xoşhałim above, I can't find the right symbol for the h, but it should be the one that corresponds to  ح
